this can be best described as abysmal. the programmes continually interrupt the adverts.
added to that is the total dependance on american content which i find to be an insult to the intelligence.
i suppose i can be described as a grumpy old man who likes his entertainment to be mind engaging rather than mind numbing.
and another point ! why do tv announcers have to speak american ? example:- "starts july 2", what does that mean? july as well, july too,
what?
there are of course some little gems amongst the dross, namely :- "pie in the sky", "wire in the blood", "frost", and if you have foxtel, uktv (without little britain).
does anyone think as i ?
YOU ARE RIGHT... THE TV CONTENT IS A CONTINUAL REMOTE IN ACTION. TRYING TO GET ANYTHING THAT A IS TOTALLY INTERESTING THAT THE REMOTE IS PLACED DOWN, JUST DOES'T HAPPEN. I HAVE AUSTAR ON AND WITH APPROX.50 CHANNELS I STILL FIND IT DIFFICULT. MOST SHOWS ON TV EG. SITCOMS ARE WOULD BE IF THEY COULD BES. MEANING THEY AREBOTTOM OF THEBARRELL SHOWS THAT ARE GIVEN TO US AS "ENTERTAINMENT. I MUST ADMIT I LOVE TO WATCH LIVE SPORT, BECAUSE IT'S LIVE- IT'S NOT PREDICTABLE AS MOST MOVIES AND SHOWS.
I DONT MIND A BIT OF REALITY TV EG SURVIVOR, AUST NEXT TOP MODEL, AND OF COURSE DONT FORGET AUST IDOL. I LIKE A LITTLE SHOW CALLED MEN IN TREES BUT THAT IS ONLY ON THE OFF SEASON. WE HAVE PAID TV BUT EVEN ON THAT ITS HARD TO FIND SOMETHING TO WATCH AT TIMES. I WONDER HOW I WOULD GET ON IF THERE WAS NO ELECTRICITY OOOH WAAA!
The thing i hate most about TV/Paytv is that the all the great shows dont last as long as you would like them to and i hate having to wait 4-6 months to see the next series. The best time to watch some of these are when they have the marathons on.
Also the great shows that are on that go for an hour like Lost, Hero's, Alias, Prison Break the first 10 - 15 minutes are flash backs on other episodes that gets me fired up every time.some of these series should be just on big movie so you are not left hanging a week to see what happens to them (you know when they leave ya hanging right at the best part in the episode) good old mcgyver a different storie each week but you knew he was going to get the job done. and the A-Team.
I have brought several DVD Boxsets of these shows and i still cant find time to sit and watch them every time i do something comes up or i am not in the mood.
local library has increased the amount of dvd s available for loan i love getting a full set of a program , ok you need to wait but dont mind .

No television in this house, so it doesn't bother me what the programmers put on....
We spend our evenings talking to our children, taking turns reading aloud from favourite books (one chapter a night, we take it in turns), playing boardgames, teaching each other things (I am teaching my 7yo boy to knit, and my 14yo son to decorate cakes, and my 16yo daughter is learning to upgrade laptops) .
I DO, however have a large anime collection on DVD, and sometimes will watch that on the PC..
